The Wizard of Oz – In Concert

There’s no place like home! Prospero Arts brought a sensational concert version of The Wizard of Oz home to Brisbane this June, for an exclusive season at QPAC’s Concert Hall.

Since its 1939 premiere, the classic film The Wizard of Oz, starring the legendary Judy Garland, was named the most influential film of all time, and has been adored across generations over the last 85 years.

This timeless story of love, friendship and the quest for happiness in following your dreams, was brilliantly re-imagined, and transported audiences ‘over the rainbow’ to a land full of music, colour, and captivating iconic songs.

Directed by one of Australia’s most accomplished creative talents, Amy Campbell, this all-new production featured some of our favourite musical theatre stars including Elandrah Erimiha (Hamilton, In the Heights, Bring it On) playing Dorothy, Euan Doidge (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Kinky Boots) as the Scarecrow, Monique Salle (Mamma Mia, Rent, Drowsy Chaperone) as the Lion and Mark Hill (Singin in the Rain, A Chorus Line, Muriel’s Wedding) as the Tin Man. Other notable talents Angelique Cassimatis, Loren Hunter and Michael Tuahine helped bring this classic story to life along with its richly memorable musical score performed by Camerata – Queensland Chamber Orchestra – and led by Sydney’s revered Musical Director, Andrew Worboys.
