Producer/Managing Director

AMusA; LTCL; BA(mus); BA(mus.theatre-WAAPA); MAICD.

A music graduate from QUT (piano/voice), and music theatre graduate from WAAPA, Hayley’s career as a musical theatre/cabaret artist throughout Australia, Japan and the USA, was the perfect precursor to her career as a Producer today.

She doubled as a Musical Director whilst on a performing contract with Universal Studios Japan, and again in New York City, where she was musical director for the Off-Off Broadway debut of a new Australian musical Dutch Courage at Wings Theatre, following a successful workshop in Melbourne. Whilst there she graced famed New York cabaret venues Dillon’s, The Duplex and Don’t Tell Mama with her solo shows, and starred in the New York International Cringefest whilst simultaneously rehearsing and performing as Musical Director of Alvin Ailey’s premier Musical Theatre production, Celebration! She returned from the US in 2010, having played the lead role of Doris in a musical production of Miracle On 34th Street in Atlantic City.

In the in-between times Hayley has taught at many well-known Performing Arts training institutions throughout Sydney and Brisbane, for twenty years.

Combining her family background in business with her career contacts, in 2007 she initiated the involvement of her family’s company, The BMD Group, and Power Arts, as major sponsors, investors and co-producers for theatrical pursuits. Power Arts has evolved as an investment organisation, focussed on supporting promising new talents and exciting performing arts projects. They have been proudly associated with several award-winning organisations including QPAC, The Gordon Frost Organisation, The Michael Cassell Group, Global Creatures, Opera Australia, Circa, The Hayes Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, State Theatre Company of South Australia, The Queensland Ballet, Australian Dance Collective, La Boîte, The Brisbane Festival and Zen Zen Zo.

An initiative that is now largely driven by the combined effort of Power siblings Dare and Hayley, one intention with Power Arts has always been to build stronger relationships within the industry, in order to gain the knowledge and first hand experience required to branch out with a self-owned, self- run and fully sustainable, commercial production company, to launch and nurture the careers of up and coming local talents, by providing the opportunity for them to work, in Brisbane, with creatives and artists of a national calibre. These are some of the aims behind Prospero Arts Production Company.

Hayley has had an active Arts presence in Brisbane, sitting on the Board of the Brisbane Powerhouse from 2013-2022, where she cultivated BMD’s involvement with their highly respected children’s programme, Power Kids, with a position on the Board of Q Music from 2021-2023. Hayley continues to juggle her work for the Power Family, BMD, Power Arts, Prospero Arts, being a wife and mother to three amazing young boys.
